I have no pulse and with my infantile mentality anything that has "dueling snipers" in the synopsis makes me bend over and shout GIVE IT TO ME NOW. I get my white cheddar rice cakes with jalapeno cheddar dipping sauce and a two liter bottle of dr. pepper, to fully appreciate a film you must eat to ruin your physique (I'm honestly a fucking adonis for real, so it's a risk but I go for it anyways). I remember seeing this advertised way back in 2001 and not having much interest, then I saw it in the new release section and decided to rent Con Air for the tenth time, then it was on HBO and instead of watching it finally I went with masturbating furiously to some softcore porn and falling asleep in my own filth. Out of nowhere, someone talked about it in another meaningless conversation and their kind comments gave me a power charge to finally watch what I no interest in watching before. What a terrible fucking cast to begin with, the three Brits really distracted me throughout. When I think RUSSIAN, I think slime and I think filth, these Brits covered in pooey green excrement still can't pull off what it means to be a soulless red. The three of them had not a morsel of credibility and made what should be a serious subject into a kind of light and poppy skippy action movie, Fiennes seemed like he was in a whole other movie and annoyed me everytime he spoke. The sex scene was peculiar and Weisz's look of horror-pleasure was either saying she hadn't the experience or Mr. Jude Law is hung (which is clearly not the case, I've seen pictures). Thankfully Mr. Ed Harris, the sole American, looks great in military duds and really doesn't have to say much to give off that Nazi vibe. His face is cinematic, I see poetic truth in everyone of his scenes and he's got presence few can match. Bob Hoskins equals lukewarm Long Good Friday in everything where he plays a "bad guy", which is alright by me. The "war" scenes are generic, the "dueling snipers" promised amounted to little more than a bunch of headshots. This movie made headshots uninteresting, not an original or truly exciting part to be found, I was doing pushups towards the end and even stopped for the final showdown between snipers and like the whole film it was underwhelming. Absolutely throwaway and hopeless.

"Vassili: On the train... coming here... we were in the same car. Tania: No... Vassili: I saw you. You were reading and you fell asleep. Oh, I didn't dare look at you, you were so beautiful. It was scary. Afterwards, I couldn't stop thinking about you. It made me smile. And then I thought of all the men who would get to hold you, who would make you laugh... how lucky they were. And now I'm the one lying next to you."

The love story was really random. It was sad that Sacha died, but after he did, Vassili and Tania were just like, "NOOOO" and never really did anything. It didn't inspire them that much more to kill Major Konig -- Tania and Danilov's deaths are what really inspired Vassili to kill Konig once and for all. Also, I hated that Danilov was essentially made the villain, and so randomly, too. This movie was mildly enjoyable (although the first hour was a snooze fest), but historically inaccurate and kind of dumb.

Good war movie. Apparently based off a true story. The battle scenes were excellent in this. Great job by the entire cast. Sure nobody went by exact accents for the Germans or Russians it was never needed for the telling of the story. Great action scenes and a good story. Worth a watch for those who like war films.

A fantastic movie....surprisingly.... The opening sequence is massive!!! The setting, the cinematopgraphy and the music carry out the breathtaking mood!!! Then, it turned to become the battle of duel between Jude Law and Ed Harris...absolutely a fine pair of casting!!! Despite some criticism about historical accuracy, this is a really good movie!!! I like how they dramatized a simple story like this, very very interesting and exciting!
